Wet & Forget: Innovation, How-tos and DIYs
Wet and Forget is not only the father company to an amazing line of cleaning products, and one of Make48’s newest platinum sponsors for our September 28-30 event at the Kansas City Art Institute (!) but their blog and YouTube channels are also some of our favorite go-to’s for DIY advice and how-tos. Last week, Make48 had the opportunity to interview Teresa Fugatt, Wet & Forget’s Marketing VP, about some of these innovation initiatives.
Teresa gave us the scoop on why it is so important to Wet & Forget to create new and exciting DIY and how-to content for their community. She mentioned that their channels, aside from keeping Wet & Forget customers up-to-date with their products, serve as a way for them to share and talk about the things they have in common: DIY and gardening. “If we are always talking about ourselves people tend to shut down and stop listening… you want to work on that long-term relationship built on the same interests,” says Teresa. These interests are also reflected in the community’s engagement within the blog and with each other, “I love it when a consumer can get advice and feedback from another Wet & Forget customer…it’s more believable and valuable than me or anyone else at Wet & Forget telling them.”
At Make48 we are all about invention, so we are always interested in the ways that companies continue to bring innovation to their products. We asked Teresa about the different ways that Wet & Forget does just that, and we were honestly really impressed with the answers and how centered they are on consumer needs. Wet & Forget has a realistic outlook on the role that cleaning has in most consumers’ lives, “Consumers’ lives are busy. Their careers, kids, parents, extra-curricular activities are all filling their schedules. Taking time out to clean or maintain the home is not easy, nor appealing to most. Wet & Forget completely understands this and knows developing innovative methods to get the same results or better, while requiring less time and effort is appealing to most”.
That’s why, Teresa told us, Wet & Forget has created products that take away a lot of the effort in the cleaning equation- with products like their Wet & Forget Shower, which require no scrubbing or wiping (hence, “wet & forget”) but can rather be left on and rinsed away the next day. One of our personal favorite things about their products is their spray nozzle, which has a ” high-efficiency remote sprayer” that can be “turned at any angle without affecting product flow for those hard-to-reach areas”. And, the 3′ extension hose lets you set the bottle on the floor while you spray.
Wet & Forget’s newest product is the Wet & Forget Outdoor Ready-To-Use, which features this same nozzle, and can clean your outdoor surfaces with no scrubbing or wiping, either. Q: Wet & Forget’s blog and YouTube channel is full of great DIYs and how-tos, why is this kind of content important to Wet & Forget?
At Wet & Forget we build solid relationships with our loyal customers. Like any friendship, you probably have something in common that both naturally talk about, and we feel the same about our customers. We want to talk with them, educate them, have them educate us, and share ideas on what we are all passionate about- the DIY and gardening categories. Much like a friendship, if we are always talking about ourselves people tend to shut down and stop listening. Yes, they want to know what’s new and exciting at Wet & Forget and you want them to share it with their friends and family but you want to work on that long-term relationship built on the same interests. Then you can rest assured that they are listening when you do have something new and exciting to share with them.
Wet & Forget has a large following. Once consumers try our products and see how they make cleaning easier they are eager to share their Wet & Forget story. We love going into our social sites to answer consumer questions and see that many times our loyal customers take it upon themselves to answer for us, which is exactly what we want. I love it when a consumer can get advice and feedback from another Wet & Forget customer, “It’s real, its transparent” for the consumer. It’s more believable and valuable than me or anyone else at Wet & Forget telling them.
Q: Wet & Forget’s line of products is easier to use. Why do you think that this is a particularly important area for innovation?
Consumers’ lives are busy. Their careers, kids, parents, extra-curricular activities are all filling their schedules. Taking time out to clean or maintain the home is not easy, nor appealing to most. Wet & Forget completely understands this and knows developing innovative methods to get the same results or better, while requiring less time and effort is appealing to most. We’ve developed products like Wet & Forget Shower that don’t require any scrubbing or wiping. You simply spray your shower and the next day rinse it clean. And only once a week. That’s it. Wet & Forget Shower is bleach-free so it’s also easier on the person applying the product- no harsh fumes, no worries of staining your clothes during application. We’ve even designed the bottle and sprayer to make application easier. The high-efficiency remote sprayer provides faster, more thorough coverage. It can be turned at any angle without affecting product flow for those hard-to-reach areas. The bottle can be placed on the floor during application and you can simply hold the sprayer thanks to the 3’ extension hose. The 64 oz. container will keep the average size shower clean for 12 weeks. You’ll only need to purchase Wet & Forget Shower several times per year, not every time you visit the store. We’ve really tried to think of everything.
Q: What are some of your latest innovative products, and what sets them apart from other products of its kind?
Wet & Forget Outdoor Ready To Use is our newest product. It made the Wet & Forget easy application, even easier for consumers. Wet & Forget Ready To Use has the same benefits as our Wet & Forget Moss, Mold, Mildew and Algae Stain Remover with an easy spray & leave formula that eliminated the scrubbing, the rinsing and the power washing. The New, Ready To Use comes already mixed in the same innovative bottle as Wet & Forget Shower. Simply turn the spray nozzle to ‘on’ and you can spray small areas in a few minutes and be done! The Ready To Use version is ideal for small applications like the front porch stoops, garden statues, mailboxes and patio umbrellas. Wet & Forget goes to work cleaning and customers can get back to their busy lives. What sets Wet & Forget apart from other products? We’ve developed an easier way to keep all your outdoor surfaces clean.
