Andre and Vickie Jones are the husband-and-wife duo that makes Team Jonesez. They are known back home for their family-owned and operated mobile barbecue business in Fort Myers, Florida, but came to Make48 to cook the competition!
What made you want to be a part of Make48?
We wanted to be a part of Make48 to help prepare us for our own patent and invention.
What was it like working as a team, was it what you expected?
We work great together as a team all the time with our current business, so it was what we expected.
How did you go about putting your team together and what advantages did each of you bring to the team?
We decided for just the two of us to represent the Jonesez Team. Andre always has the ideas and I know how to research and bring it all together.
What was the most difficult part of the competition?
The most difficult part of the competition was trying to come up with an invention that no one else has and once you decide on a great idea, you get input from others that tell you someone else is working on something similar. Then to make the decision to start all over, instead of going with your first idea to see later that your first idea was the best one and that the other team you allowed to do it, wins second place.
What did you learn from the Make48 event, how did the experience help you as an inventor?
Make 48 taught us to work and focus on something until you get it done.
Looking back, anything you would’ve done differently?
Looking back, we should’ve gone with our first idea even though it was similar or the same as another team. We would’ve loved to see the outcome if we had stayed with it and presented the Jonesez Team way.
Overall what was the best part of the Make48 experience?
Being in front of cameras and working around the clock was the best experience for us.
