Get to know Make48’s Emcee this season, Sean Murphy! Sean is a graduate from the esteemed McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas, Austin Texas. Since graduating college in 1989 he has never had a job, a resume or even an interview. He is a true believer in capitalism and the American dream.
For the past 31 years Sean has worked within the financial industry. He has spoken coast-to-coast, live, to well over 100,000 people. He served for 4 years as the CEO of the Inventors Center of Kansas City (ICKC). ICKC is a 501C3 organization created to assist inventors and entrepreneurs to bring their products profitably to market.
While serving as CEO of ICKC, he was one of the principals involved in creating and launching the 48 hour inventors challenge now known as Make48. Sean served as Emcee for Make48 when they held the competition at the Smithsonian in DC. The show is now in its 4th season and featured on PBS. Sean has served as both Emcee and the pitch coach for contestants on the show.
Sean currently serves as a mentor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City | Bloch School of Management, has an E-Scholars program where students are challenged to create an actual business within 9 months that can scale to 5 million within 5 years. Sean’s specialties include sales training, time management, public speaking and is an oral communications expert. Give a hand to our master of ceremonies this season, Sean Murphy!
