16 Tech is the urban innovation district in the historic Riverside neighborhood, on the northwestern edge of downtown Indianapolis. Here, entrepreneurs and trailblazers in the fields of life sciences, technology, advanced manufacturing and engineering come together and are united by a common drive for innovation.
Creating a true innovation ecosystem also means delivering the right tools and programming to foster success. From start-up and scale-up services to incubator and training programs, 16 Tech’s Innovation Hub provides many opportunities for personal and professional development.
Located in the Innovation Hub is a variety of tools to grow. It includes a shared work and incubator space, housing community, a food hall, and Machyne makerspace.
Machyne is not only a community-oriented makerspace with classic tools and high-tech equipment, but members have access to an abundance of resources. Within the 16 Tech Innovation District, there is help to launch and grow successful businesses for members through Machyne’s own programming and their close relationship with 1776, the nation’s largest network of entrepreneurial incubators.
The newly built Machyne had their grand opening in March ‘21 and have already begun to partner with others in the area, including with Purdue University Extension Marion County for a series of STEAM programs for youth ages 13 and up, and will expand to include multi-generational programming for adults.
Everything at 16 Tech is thoughtfully conceived to bring innovators together, and is connected to Indianapolis’ thriving research corridor. Located near major academic and corporate hubs such as the Indiana University School of Medicine, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, and the Regenstrief Institute, among many others, as well as global corporations, including Eli Lilly and Company, are all within easy reach.
