[Kansas City, September 25, 2024] - Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) recently played host to a whirlwind of innovation, welcoming eight talented high school teams from across the region for the thrilling Make48 competition. In a remarkable feat of creativity and resourcefulness, these teams were tasked with designing and prototyping a groundbreaking product within a mere 48 hours.
Fueled by determination and caffeine, the students immersed themselves in a weekend of brainstorming, designing, and collaborating. The last stages culminated in a final pitch where each team presented their finished product and accompanying video to a panel of esteemed judges.
Team Golda Girls 2.0, emerged as the top winners, whose outstanding creation earned them the coveted "Best Overall Innovation" title, securing their place in the national competition. Congratulations to Tina Gleason, Maya Sierra, Camilah DeLeon, and Dayana Landa-Medina on their exceptional achievement!
The "Best Pitch Award" went to Team Cookie Cre8tors (Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast), recognizing their compelling presentation and communication skills. Kudos to Aleks Skibicki, Evie Skibicki, Ava Shapiro Scheuer, and Sophia Deak for their stellar performance.
City On a Hill was lauded for their self-awareness and teamwork, taking home the "Best Agilities© Award", sponsored by The DeBruce Foundation. A round of applause for Tim Wilson, Gabrielle Crider, Keymari Upshaw, and Frank Northern on their well-deserved recognition.
These brilliant young innovators demonstrated the extraordinary power of collaboration and rapid-fire problem-solving during this exhilarating 48-hour competition. Our sincerest thanks go to all the participating teams for their participation and infectious enthusiasm.
