Kansas City, MO (December 13, 2023) - In the heart of Wilson, Arkansas, a remarkable event is set to unfold March 1-3, 2024. The Delta School, a beacon of education and innovation, will play host to a thrilling Make48 competition and TV documentary, bringing together high school teams from the surrounding areas. This event promises to be a testament to the power of creativity, teamwork, and hands-on learning.
The Delta School: Nurturing Innovators
Nestled in the quaint town of Wilson, The Delta School has long been a leader in progressive education. With goals to foster creativity and critical thinking, The Delta School is committed to providing an environment where students can explore, experiment, and innovate.
Andrew Podoll, Head of the Delta School, helped strategize bringing Make48 to Wilson. “Northeast Arkansas is a hotspot for educational innovation, a destination for career development, and is surfacing as a revitalized region for entrepreneurial cultivation. Bringing Make48 to the Delta Region and showcasing the creative spirit of design that exists in this area was a decision made with deep confidence and enthusiasm for celebrating where the world meets the Delta - and where the Delta meets the world. We are beyond excited to share our campus and innovative mindset with regional educators and students. The opportunity for The Delta School to partner with Make48 and corporate sponsors to bring this experience to our regional stakeholders is something that will have a long-lasting impact beyond the event itself. This is an opportunity to turn the corner on learning reimagined and spark new ways of thinking about educational change.”
Make48 is a competition that challenges teams to transform an idea into a tangible prototype within a mere 48 hours. The event has gained national recognition via a docuseries entering its eighth season, storytelling the importance of collaboration, problem-solving, and ingenuity in the face of a time crunch.
Empowering the Next Generation of Innovators
Eight high school teams from the surrounding region will participate in this unique maker competition. Students will be designing for a challenge created by E-Z-GO golf carts and will learn invaluable lessons in teamwork, communication, and project management, all while learning the process of innovation from brainstorming an idea, meeting with patent attorneys, designing and developing a prototype, creating a marketing video and finally pitching the product to a panel of judges.
The winning team will walk away with $2,000, a custom-made trophy, and advance to compete at the national competition, slated for November 2024, where one team can win $10,000. Get a taste of what these events are like HERE!

About Make48:
Make48 is a nationwide invention-competition docuseries, distributed and aired in partnership with This Old House Makers Channel (Roku), that gives teams a challenge at the start of a two-day event. With just 48 hours, teams must create a prototype, promotional video, sales sheet, and finally present their idea to a panel of judges. The teams have access to a makerspace and numerous Tool Techs (that can make almost anything), patent attorneys, marketing experts, and more. This format allows everyone to have a level playing field and the chance to win, with no prior technical knowledge necessary.
